Do I need a referral?

 Individuals do not need a referral to see a psychologist.

 If you are referred by your GP with a Mental Health Care Plan, or referred by your Paediatrician or Psychiatrist, you will be eligible to claim a Medicare Rebate for 10 individual sessions per year. You are also eligible for referral, and to claim Medicare Rebate  for 10 Group Therapy sessions per year .

 When you are referred by a third party, e,g, Insurance company, WorkCover, Solicitor, Employee Assistance Program Agency, Rehabilitation Providers, these referral sources are able to make information available to your psychologist before your first appointment.

Am I eligible for a Medicare Rebate?

Medicare benefits are available for a range of specified psychology services for people with certain conditions.For example, there are items for people who are suffering from a diagnosable mental illness such as Depression or Panic Disorder.

To receive psychological services under Medicare, a person must be referred by his/her GP, Paediatrician, or Psychiatrist. A  psychologist must meet the eligibility requirements for the particular Medicare item.The rebate for a specialist Clinical Psychologist is $119.80 per session, and $81.60 for an approved registered Psychologist.For more information google and read  The Australian Psychological Society (APS) Medicare Benefits Fact Sheet.

Payment is made at the time of consultation

Payments may be made by  EFTPOS,MasterCard or Visa, or by cheque or cash.

You may have Private health insurance rebates available to you if you have extras cover. Your insurer will be able to provide you with this information.

Cancellation Policy

To enable optimal service to to clients 48 hours notice of any need to change or cancel an appointment is required. The full fee will be charged for non-attendance, or cancellation with less than 24 hours notice. These fees are paid one week prior to the next appointment.

The fee may be waived on production of a Medical Certificate showing sudden onset of illness..
